Dog toys – for play, fun, and relaxation

Dogs and children have one thing in common: they love to play. Toys are not only essential for your dog’s healthy development; they also provide variety and allow your pet to keep itself occupied sometimes.

At SABRO you can learn what to look for when choosing toys and soft toys for dogs and what types of dog toys are available. Take your time browsing and find the best activity for your dog.

Why do dogs need toys?

You can use toys in a variety of situations. For example, to keep your dog occupied when you go to work. Dog toys provide entertainment and help pass the time until you return and can play with your four-legged friend again.

In addition, toys for dogs are also practical during training. With fetch toys, you encourage your dog’s movement. Other toys stimulate your dog’s intelligence, while others serve as chew toys for dental hygiene. That’s why it’s practical to have a variety of toys at home.

When can puppies have dog toys?

If you have decided to get a puppy , you can gradually give it toys from around six months of age. But don’t simply leave the toy lying around, regardless of how old your dog is. Show it what it can do with the toy.

Tip: Keep an eye on your dog, as this will help you find out what it likes and dislikes.

If your puppy doesn’t touch the toy, give it a little more time. That doesn’t necessarily mean it still rejects the toy. Perhaps it is simply too early for it.

Do not give your dog permanent access to its toys. Use them deliberately in training or give them to your dog when nobody has time for it. If your pet can access its toys at any time, they will eventually become boring and lose their effect.

These types of toys are available

  • Fetch toys: balls, frisbees, ropes
  • Intelligence toys/activity toys: strategy games, memory games, Kongs, treat balls
  • Tug toys/food toys/chew toys: ropes, knots, rubber bones and animals, ropes, chew toys
  • Search toys: snuffle mats
  • Soft toys: plush toys

Quality is important!

Pay attention to the size of the dog toy. Most dogs love chewing on their toys. Pieces that are too small can be swallowed. In addition, toys should always be made from durable, safe and tested materials . If plastic cannot withstand a strong bite, it is unsuitable. Small splinters and sharp edges can injure your dog’s mouth, and there is a risk that it could swallow pieces of the toy.

Requirements for dog toys:

  • suitable for the dog’s size
  • preferably slightly larger rather than too small
  • tested materials
  • durable and safe
  • soft toys for dogs (not a soft toy for humans)
  • That’s why dogs love soft toys

It’s not only children who love soft toys. Some dogs also have a box full of stuffed animals to cuddle with. They can help your four-legged friend relax and give it many happy hours.

Soft toys for dogs can be used in many ways. If your dog enjoys playing with soft plush toys , you can use them for training—for example, for fetching. A plush toy can also be used as a reward, for example instead of treats. When your dog does something right, reward it by giving it the soft toy and playing with it.

Larger stuffed animals are wonderful for puppies and sensitive or anxious dogs. They can lie in their dog bed and cuddle with them. Cuddling helps relieve stress.

Almost all SABRO toys are exclusively designed and make a wonderful gift for your dog and your friends’ dogs too.

Cuddle dogs

There are five different cuddle dogs: Theo, Tobi, Tomte, Tommi and Trudi. With their super-soft filling , these cuddle companions are ideal for cuddling. They are almost one metre long, weigh just under 1 kg and are excellent as a cuddly addition to the dog’s sleeping area. Puppies, as well as sensitive and anxious dogs, in particular, find greater comfort and relaxation with these cuddle dogs.

Plush toys for playing and romping

Does your dog love soft toys? Then we have many lovely stuffed companions for it, such as Önne the goose, Dörte the pig, Gonzo the rhino and Tilda the sheep. Our plush toys come in different sizes, and their long arms, legs and wings flap around when carried and arouse your dog’s interest.

Replace soft toys when necessary

Our soft toys for dogs are made from durable, dog-friendly materials. Nevertheless, your dog should only play with the plush toys under supervision. Depending on how intensely it plays, such a toy can also become damaged. Check your dog’s soft toy regularly for defects. If you find one, replace the toy to avoid the risk of injury.
